Zinzi Clemmons, the author of What We Lose, has been praised as an author to watch. Come hear what she has to say on Thursday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto, CA.
What We Lose, which Vogue calls, “the debut novel of the year,” is a powerful and innovative work that questions the nature of identity, grief and love through the eyes of a young woman who loses her mother to cancer. The novel confronts the horrors and the legacy of apartheid, and the tyranny of race in the personal and political realms.
Tickets are $20; the ticket/book bundle is $25 if you register by October 23. Books will also be available for sale at the event for $22 plus tax. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the African Library Project.
